spade phillips hiccups
TheSnakeFarm.com's reprinting of Matt Kowalski's "Spade Phillips, P.I." follows the original publication schedule of the strip as best we can manage. That means there are three reasons why a weekday may go by without a Spade strip.

1. The most likely reason is The Texas A&M Battalion would sometimes bump strips a day if they didn't have enough space for them. This seemed to happen a lot when I ran "(the story so far)" in the paper. I'm guessing it happened quite a bit when Matt started his strip two or three years before I started mine.

2. The reprints didn't start at the beginning of a semeseter, so we might be at a holiday during the original run. I know that you'll see Kozy K wish everyone a Merry Christmas sometime this October. Kozy K's tips for a successful Spring Break might appear in early December.

Matt only dated his strips during the first semester. I'm trying to break down everything he did into a week's worth of related material, but we'll see as we start reprinting the second semester's strips.

3. Least likely, Matt missed a deadline and no Spade Phillips, P.I. strip ran that day. I really don't think this ever happened. I don't recall a day where there was a "WaRPeD" and a "Tubularman" and that one that Nico did in the Batt without a "Spade Phillips, P.I."

So it's probably 1. or 2.

RE: Spade Phillips Hiccups (August 26, 2003):
I never missed a deadline. So, yes, it is reason 1 or 2.
