An image from my printmaking class is here to tide you over until I can get PE(aott) back on schedule. thesnakefarm.com/images/etching.jpg. ADDED: a detail of the image, which better shows the really neat stipling effect: thesnakefarm.com/images/etching_closeup.jpg Posted at November 24, 2003 08:56 PM ![]() Oh, d00d. Printmaking. Like the rubber tiles that you carve out and then ink and print? Is that what that is? Posted by: Sarah at November 24, 2003 10:24 PMThat was carved and etched into a zinc plate. The plate was run through a press and that's one of the resulting prints. Posted by: cartoonlad at November 25, 2003 07:19 AMThat was printed on a beige colored BFK paper. I used a mixture of red oxide and yellow ochre inks for the ruddy color, which was applied to the plate. The acid carves pits and channels into the plate's zinc surface. The ruddy ink settled in those depressions; the un-etched areas were wiped to remove the ink I didn't want to print. Then I rolled a tacky layer of white over the plate. Because a roller was used to apply this ink, it only covered the areas that weren't etched. I'll be posting a few other variations of this print over the weekend, when I take breaks from writing my paper. Posted by: cartoonlad at November 26, 2003 08:56 AM |
