Heroes and Villains
I've been anticipating the release of Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich for months now. In fact, when it is finally released, you might as well not come back to thesnakefarm.com for about two weeks while I play through the game. (A joke, I hope.) But surprise of surprises, I discovered a rather thriving fan base of modders -- I've recently gone over to FreedomMods.com and have been playing through The Great Hunt mod, a sort of stellar cross-over between the DC, Marvel, and Freedom Force comic universes. The voice acting for that is remarkably good -- better than I thought a fan creation would have been. (Except for Johnny Storm/The Human Torch's voice for the first few missions. Up until patchs 1 and 2, it sounded like Johnny Storm's was talking to me on the phone. Aside from his tinny voice, Johnny Storm is a great character to play. Good job with translating him to the game.) Part of the weekend was spent playing around in Photoshop, creating a Hazardman skin. Unfortunately, there's no basic Male Holding Staff mesh, so when I built the character, I wasn't able to do any of the neat stuff I picture Haz doing. The text file said that there would be room to add a 10k point custom character to the squad after the first mission, so I used 10k to build the Freedom Force Hazardman. It turns out that I probably didn't need to use quite that many points. His in-game stats are higher than what I think they should be, his "powers" (two different punch/kick attacks, a gas grenade attack that never seems to stun anyone, the hazard-discs, and his "fancy footwork") were as maxed out as they could be... I hope the the next game will have a Male Holding Staff mesh to really make the Haz I'm thinking of. In other upcoming hero-ness news, part of the weekend was spent in fleshing out an upcoming storyline featuring the spandex-clad set. I have hope that after this Vampire Island storyline ends, I'll get back to the way the strip was before: a week or two with a common thread between gag a day strips. I keep battling the storyline monster when all I want to do is make gag-a-days like Foxtrot. I can see how something like Sluggy Freelance happens. You got an awsome storyline going on right now. werewolves....sweet Posted by: Josh at March 16, 2004 06:14 PMI must admit, I pretty much like the storyline as well. And now it's on a MWF shcedule, a week or two would have about 4 strips less than before... But to be honest, I'm happy reading anything you do. I love PE(aott). :D Posted by: Ciaran at March 18, 2004 12:06 PM |
