2 guys sitting on a sofa holding game controllers
A new comic strip has been released. 2 guys sitting on a sofa holding game controllers is the same comic strip you've seen everywhere else on the web. It features two guys sitting on a sofa. They're holding game controllers.

But what's different about this one is YOU create it. Send in your ideas for various panels and they will be put into the big random panel selectin' machine on the next update (updates every few days)*.

2 guys sitting on a sofa holding game controllers -- launched with 36 possible strips. How many will it end up with? Only you can decide.

More information is available on the about 2 guys sitting on a sofa holding game controllers page.

* standard disclaimer: of course, if I really don't want it on my site, it won't be done.

The sad part is, these strips are funnier than about half the comics I've seen in my life.

Thanks, nomie!

One update later and WHAM. 1482 possible strips.

Some of these are hilarious.

Okay, some of these combinations really work together, but this is the most amazing one I've seen so far (I'll be really sad if those two panels were done together or something):

Panel 1:
Player One - I love you, man.

Panel 2:
--

Panel 3:
Player One - I love you, man.
Player Two - We've talked about this.

Panel 1:
Player One - I love you, man.
Player Two - What?

Panel 2:

Panel 3:
Player Two - Huh?

None of the various "I love you" panels were submitted in the same submission.

It's been just under one full day since the strip has been released. There are now 12,792 possible different comic strips on the 2 guys page.

Wow.

My favorite two that I generated during the 1482 possible strips run, were:

"Perv." ... "Dude, it's just a game."

and:

"Do you think all these games are desensitizing us to violence?" "Nope." ... "Those animals really get mad when you hit them with shovels, don't they?"

Posted by: cartoonlad at May 19, 2003 06:08 PM

- Panel 1 -
Player 1: "...And that's how I became senator."

- Panel 2 -
--

- Panel 3 -
Player 1: "Are you allowed to do that?"
Player 2: "Not in Utah."

The funniest one I came up with was:

- Panel 1 -
Player 1: "Do you think all these games are desensitizing us to violence?"
Player 2: "Nope."

- Panel 2 -
--

- Panel 3 -
Player 1: "Eat hot sticky railgun death, bitch."
Player 2: "Ass."

While we're posting our favorites...

- Panel 1 -
Player 1: "I was thinking about getting a girlfriend."
Player 2: "Too bad about that restraining order, eh?"

- Panel 2 -
--

- Panel 3 -
Player 1: "I love you, man."
Player 2: "We've talked about this."

Were these developed together? They seem too perfect not to have been...

Anyway, by my calculations, you now have a full color daily comic strip with a 35-year archive. Not bad.

That's so cool!

Now I can't wait to see what the other interactive reader contributions thingy is.

P1: "I've gotta use the rest room, but I can't move anything except my fingers"
--
(...)

P1: "Also, I think I did it wrong."

Hehehe. Funny.

Bwahaha. I love this thing. I've found a bunch of good ones! You rule, FauxThomas.

This is the worst idea I've ever seen.

Wait, I mean RULINGEST. Or really neato keeno.

- Panel 1 -
Player 1: "I'm considering a sexchange."

- Panel 2 -
(...)

- Panel 3 -
Player 1: "I don't think it worked."

- Panel 1 -
Player 1: "Perv."

- Panel 2 -
(...)

- Panel 3 -
Player 1: "You rock. Seriously."

*grin*

Gah, another one. This rocks.

- Panel 1 -
Player 1: "Hey, remember when kids used to play outside all day and actually talk with each other?"
Player 2: "Yeah, whatever happened to those days?"

- Panel 2 -
Player 1: "Whoa."

- Panel 3 -
Player 1: "He's a good man, but not quite right in the head."

I hate to join the list of strip-quoters, but this one was beautiful.

-Panel 1-
[that line about life, amino acids, and telemarketers]

-Panel 2-
Player 1: Really makes you think, doesn't it?

-Panel 3-
Player 1: Are you allowed to do that?
Player 2: Not in Utah.

The "BA-BOOM" Panel alone is priceless.

One of my favorites:

[Panel One.]

One: We are not men disguised as mere dogs...
Two: We are wolves, disguised as men.

[Panel Two.]

Two: You can't possibly mean what I think you mean.

[Panel Three.]

Two: Well, at least I'm not a furry.

Unfortunately, I went through about twenty hilarious ones before I realized I could've saved them as screencaptures. :^\

And another:

[Panel One.]

One: I wonder if those poor mortals realize how we control them and play with them, Satan.

Two: Or that the afterlife is a little different than the imagined, O Creator.

[Panel Two.]

---

[Panel Three.]

Two: Is it supposed to do that?

Posted by: Quartz at May 22, 2003 12:24 AM

Here's one of the best I've see so far...

[Panel 1]
Player 2:Why the Hell do you have a lampshade on your head?

[Panel 2]
...

[Panel 3]
Player 1: So,Uh... you gonna turn it on, or should I get up and do it?
