comixpedia and the 2 guys thing
Welcome to all the new readers that clicked on that text link buried in the middle of an article about little gamers! For those of you who've been around for a while, 2 guys sitting on a sofa holding game controllers or whatever the hell it's called was linked in a review over at Comixpedia, the news source for online comics. I don't expect many people to find the link, hidden as it was in the middle of a sentence, disguised as a single word that had nothing to do with what would await you once you clicked on the link, just like the folks at memepool seem to do. (If you're wondering, that sentence was "Not coincidentally, the strip has been parodied just as often as it's been imitated." I got the word "been", despite 2 guys not actually being a parody of the strip. The genre? Maybe. The strip? Follow that link above.) Anyway, it looks like for every five people who have submitted stuff for 2 guys since the article went up, there's one loser who thinks it's his goal in life to rid the world of my "parody" by sending in things like "little gamers is going to kick your ass". Luckily, there's code in the submission form that sends an IP address when submissions are, um, submitted. So it's very easy to batch delete the two dozen plus e-mails that come in during a twenty minute form spam frenzy from the same person. (I would hope they'd read this, but I know I'm kidding myself. I doubt that these warriors of justice and virtue would actually read anything on this site anyway.) Isn't that horrible? A bunch of new readers come to the site and here I complain about the few idiots that snuck in the door with them. Let me start over: Welcome to all the new people! I'm glad that the majority of you enjoyed the comic works found here and hope that you'll continue to visit again! Thanks for coming by! In other related news, I should be updating 2 guys with a ton of new panels this Friday. Posted at January 13, 2004 06:48 PM ![]() HeHe! Betch thought you didn't have the power. I followed the link (One of them) and found that someone had altered the post: The link is now "has been parodied", which follows ISO hyperlink specifications much more closely. And, as you said, It is not a parody, the art style is merely a result of similar tools, and you were informed of LGs after it went live. You have no chance of getting the lamer crowd to understand that, of course. Actually, the link is "been". The "has" and the "parodied" point to different sites. Posted by: wintermute at January 15, 2004 08:30 AMMan, that's strange. The article went up on either Sunday or Monday, and it looks like just yesterday, the number of people following that article's link jumped ten-fold. Looking at little-gamers.com, the cartoonists there mentioned the review to their audience which led a ton of readers to comixpedia, which led a ton of readers here. Wow. (Not coincidentally, the number of reader comments on the review went from three to almost fifty yesterday. I guess LG has a large readership.) Anyway, welcome to a whole bunch of new readers! I hope you stick around! Posted by: cartoonlad at January 15, 2004 09:37 AM |
